On October 24th, 2015 Rebuilding Together NYC welcomed 150 volunteers to Midland Beach on Staten Island to rebuild 6 homes and 2 community centers that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy three years earlier.
With the help of our sponsors and volunteers, we were able to:
— Install flooring, drywall, trim and paint, and remove debris that has been sitting since the storm; and
— Build raised flower beds and remove debris surrounding a community center and a church rectory
In addition to these repairs, RT NYC volunteers were able to install 50 solar-powered, motion sensor security lights to increase overall safety in the Staten Island community.
We would like to thank all of our sponsors and partners that made all this work possible in Staten Island, including the American Red Cross, New York State Home and Community Renewal, Bernzomatic, Freddie Mac, TripleMint, Credit Suisse, Dal Electrical Corporation, Shawmut Design and Construction, Statewide Demolition, Jimmy John’s, Stop and Shop, and Dyker Park Bagels.
