Fall Rebuilding Day 2016

photogrid_1477757692228On October 29, 2016, Rebuilding Together NYC hosted its Fall Rebuilding Day in commemoration of the 4th anniversary of Hurricane Sandy in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn. With the help of 100 volunteers, we repaired five homes, two community gardens, and installed 50 solar powered lights to increase safety in the neighborhood.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors and partners in Gerritsen Beach rebuilding projects including Shawmut Design and Construction, Dal Electric, BNY Mellon, M&T Plumbing, Gerritsen Beach Bagels, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Open Architecture New York, Columbia Habitat for Humanity, Gerritsen Beach Volunteer Fire Department, and Gerritsen Beach Homeowners Association. With a special thanks to Senator Martin Golden, Council Member Mark Treyger, and Assembly Member Alan Maisel for joining us in kicking off the rebuilding event.

National Rebuilding Day 2016


On April 30th, 2016, Rebuilding Together NYC welcomed over 100 volunteers to Canarsie, Brooklyn to help community members affected by Hurricane Sandy over three years ago. With the help of over 100 volunteers, we were able to repair 10 homes, two community spaces, and install solar-activated, motion-detecting security lights on 75 homes. For more pictures, click here.

 Fall Rebuilding Day 2015: Staten Island


On October 24th, 2015 Rebuilding Together NYC welcomed 150 volunteers to Midland Beach on Staten Island to rebuild 6 homes and 2 community centers that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy three years earlier. For pictures and more information, see here.

Summer Rebuilding Day 2015: Red Hook, Brooklyn

IMG_2063aOn Thursday June 11, 2015, Rebuilding Together NYC partnered with Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC) to revitalize Red Hook, Brooklyn. FCRC is a Brooklyn-based organization that focuses on projects to enhance local communities. More than 115 volunteers from FCRC participated in various volunteer initiatives throughout Red Hook. On October 25th, 2014 Rebuilding Together NYC welcomed 250 volunteers to the Rockaways to rebuild 8 homes and a community center that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy two years earlier. For pictures and more information, see here.



National Rebuilding Day 2014: Canarsie, Brooklyn


On Saturday, April 26, 2014, almost 300 volunteers gathered in Canarsie, Brooklyn to help Rebuilding Together NYC repair and revitalize the storm-battered community. Along with repairing nine Sandy-affected homes, Rebuilding Together NYC and our volunteers completed a number of community revitalization projects to beautify the Canarsie neighborhood and make it safer for its residents. Fall Rebuilding Day 2013: Coney Island, Brooklyn

She Builds: Women Rebuilding Communities

On Saturday, October 1, with the help of volunteers from Charter Communications, the Meredith Corporation, HGTV, Gilbane Building Company, and Redtop Architects, along with HGTV’s Masters of Flip Kortney and Dave Wilson, and Catherine Curtin, Lolita Foster, Annie Golden and Alysia Reiner from Orange Is the New Black, we provided critical repairs and renovation to Sarah Powell Huntington House (SPHH). Repairs included mold abatement, upgrades to the child care floor, repainting of rooms and hallways, upgrades to the shared outdoors space, and more.

This residence, managed by the Women’s Prison Association (WPA), helps women exiting the criminal justice center to reunite with their children, giving them a safe space to live and helping them rejoin their community. 2016 TCS New York Marathon


Rebuilding Together NYC was a proud charity partner of the 2016 TCS New York Marathon held on Sunday, November 6, 2016. We would like to thank our amazing marathon runners for their hard work, passion, dedication, and support.




6th Annual Golf Tournament 


Rebuilding Together NYC held our 6th Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 8th at the Centennial Golf Club in Carmel, NY. The golf tournament raised money to help low-income New Yorkers improve their housing, health, and economic stability. Thank you to our event sponsors.

2016 Coming Home Gala

16_0512_111We would like to thank all of our guests, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who helped us raise $200,000 to repair homes for low-income families across New York City held on May 12,2016 at The Yale Club. Actor Richard Masur and George Oliphant of NBC’s hit show George to the Rescue served as Co-Masters of Ceremonies at our 2016 Coming Home Gala honoring Joseph Armocida of TRM Contracting for his long-term dedication and leadership in providing construction and home repairs for New Yorkers in need.
