Rebuilding Together NYC is a safe and healthy housing organization dedicated to the preservation of affordable housing for low-income residents of New York City. We accomplish this by providing free critical home repairs and accessibility modifications through a variety of program initiatives that are specially designed to keep residents safely in their communities.

Critical Home Repair

Rebuilding Together NYC has provided critical home repairs to low-income New Yorkers since 1999. Our home projects consist of major repairs for residents who cannot afford to maintain their homes in a safe and healthy fashion. We use an evidence-based National Healthy Housing Standard to conduct home assessments and develop scopes of work that ensure the most important repair needs are met.

Disaster Rebuild

rebuilding after sandy

Since Hurricane Sandy, Rebuilding Together NYC has provided extensive repairs in over 70 homes impacted by the storm. In 2015, RT NYC completed repairs in storm-damaged homes located in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx. RT NYC works closely with disaster case managers and community-based organizations active in the recovery effort to identify storm-impacted homeowners in need of our services.  Now, three years post storm, we are one of the few organizations that still rebuilds Sandy-damaged homes.

Accessibility Upgrades

access to home

Rebuilding Together NYC provides accessibility upgrades for low-income elderly and/or disabled residents so that they may remain in their homes or return from institutional care. Since launching the program in 2012, Rebuilding Together NYC has provided accessibility modifications for over 50 New Yorkers, including wheelchair ramps and lifts, stair glides, handrails, grab bars, and ADA compliant bathrooms.
