Rebuilding Together NYC is committed to building strong, sustainable neighborhoods in which New York City residents can thrive. We take a holistic, community-centered approach to neighborhood-wide rebuild initiatives, which includes the renovation of community spaces and the installation of solar-paneled lights. We accomplish this work in close partnership with locally based organizations and community leaders.

Neighborhood Revitalization

Each year, Rebuilding Together NYC selects three neighborhoods to participate in the Neighborhood Revitalization Program. Neighborhood selection is based on housing needs in a given area. Individual project sites are then chosen in close partnership with local nonprofits and community groups. During Neighborhood Revitalization events, RT NYC provides repairs and accessibility modifications in up to 10 homes, renovates up to 3 community spaces, and installs up to 100 solar powered, motion sensor lights.

Community Space Renovations

Rebuilding Together NYC organizes community projects throughout the calendar year. Project examples include interior community center renovations, murals, landscaping, construction of raised beds, and more. Our Community Center Renovations program helps nonprofits better serve their members, encourages residents to invest in their neighborhoods, and makes New York City communities safer, healthier, and more vibrant. Light it Up

Rebuilding Together NYC improves community safety by installing solar powered, motion sensor lights on the exterior of homes and community centers. The Light it Up program began in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, when Coney Island residents requested increased safety measures as they recovered from the storm. Our solar light fixtures help keep dark areas lit at no cost to the environment or the community.
